In his address, Speaker Bagbin emphasized Parliament’s duty to reflect the will of the people through responsive legislation, inclusive policymaking, and accountability. “This day offers a chance not only to celebrate democratic progress but also to reflect on the gaps we must address to strengthen parliamentary democracy,” he said.

The Majority Leader, Hon. Mahama Ayariga, underscored the importance of the day and the symbolic nature of launching the action plan as Ghana observes the day formally for the first time.

“Today’s observance is significant, as we witness the unveiling of the Open Parliament Action Plan by the Open Government Partnership Caucus,” he stated.

Clerk to Parliament, Mr. Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, described the launch as a vital step toward building a citizen-focused, accountable Parliament. He urged Parliament to recommit to democratic standards and public service.
