South Tongu MP launches major infrastructure intervention in the Fievie Electoral Area as grading and realignment works begin on the critical road network linking Kpevikpo and Tettedziekope.

Funded by the Parliament of Ghana for South Tongu, Hon. Maxwell Kwame Lukutor noted that  the project aims to overhaul the dilapidated stretch to support local farmers and improve rural accessibility.

The road, which serves as a primary artery for the transportation of agricultural produce, has long been a source of distress for residents, particularly during the rainy season.

Deployment of drip machines to reshape the terrain seeks to eliminate the logistical bottlenecks that have historically hindered economic activity within the enclave.

During a direct field inspection on Sunday, Hon. Lukutor ordered immediate technical adjustments to the project’s execution. Identifying inefficiencies in the current path, the Lawmaker expressed dissatisfaction with the winding alignment of certain sections.

He subsequently directed the engineering team to ensure the stretch from the bridge through to Tettedziekope is properly straightened and realigned to meet durable safety standards for motorists and heavy-duty farm vehicles.

In a move to ensure inclusive development, the MP further instructed the project coordinator to extend grading works beyond the main corridor. This expansion will create vital access roads to smaller, interior villages within the Kpevikpo enclave, ensuring that peripheral communities are not excluded from the improved transport network.

Addressing community leaders and residents at the site, he emphasized the necessity of local cooperation for the project’s success. The Legislator appealed to landowners to allow for the necessary encroachment onto farm fringes where road widening and straightening are required, noting that such concessions are essential for the long-term collective interest of the constituency.

The completion of these works is expected to significantly reduce travel time, lower the cost of transporting goods to nearby markets, and stimulate the local economy by providing a reliable link between Fievie’s farming hubs and the rest of the South Tongu district.
