The Member of Parliament for the South Tongu Constituency, Maxwell Lukutor, has cut the sod for the commencement of several key education and health infrastructure projects aimed at improving living standards in communities across his South Tongu constituency.

The sod-cutting and site handover exercise, which took place earlier today, Thursday the 8th of January, 2026 marks the start of construction works under the government’s ongoing infrastructure development programme in the Volta Region.

The event was attended by the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, the District Chief Executive for South Tongu, Hon. Victoria Dzeklo, the Presiding Member of the South Tongu District Assembly, Hon. Mensah Kudze, traditional authorities, party executives, and residents from the beneficiary communities.

The projects include the construction of two CHPS Compounds with ancillary facilities at Agorgany and Lolito/Nyinu, as well as the construction of a 3-unit classroom block at Lakpo and a 2-unit KG classroom block at Aglorkpovia.

When completed, the health facilities are expected to improve access to primary healthcare delivery, while the classroom blocks will help reduce overcrowding and enhance teaching and learning outcomes in basic schools within the constituency.

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Maxwell Lukutor reaffirmed his commitment to championing development initiatives that directly impact the lives of his constituents, emphasizing that education and healthcare remain top priorities under his leadership.

Community leaders and residents expressed appreciation to the government and the MP for the projects, describing them as long-awaited interventions that will significantly improve social services in the area.
