SIM Re-Registration Exercise to Come at No Cost to Government – Sam George

The Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation, Mr. Samuel Nartey George, has stated that the upcoming SIM re-registration exercise will come at no cost to the Government of Ghana.

He explained that the process would be undertaken in a manner that does not place any financial burden on the state, while ensuring efficiency and compliance within the telecommunications sector.

Mr. George noted that the exercise is aimed at enhancing national security, improving data accuracy, and strengthening regulatory oversight of SIM card usage in the country.

According to him, arrangements have been made with industry stakeholders to facilitate the process without direct government expenditure.

He assured the public that adequate measures would be put in place to ensure a smooth, transparent, and accessible re-registration process for all mobile subscribers.

The Minister urged citizens to cooperate fully when the exercise begins, emphasising its importance in safeguarding the country’s digital and security infrastructure.

The initiative forms part of broader efforts to streamline telecommunications management and enhance national security systems.
