Scraping taxes without new ones show there’re huge waste under Akufo-Addo

The Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, Mussa Dankwa, has reacted to the 2025 Budget, saying Finance Minister’s decision to give away some taxes without introducing new ones shows there was a huge waste in the system.

In an article on his Facebook page, the pollster said, “Using tax refund reserve in a smart way to plug revenue loss due to tax repeals shows how you can combine accounting and economics to give people some breathing space.”

During the presentation of the budget today, Dr. Ato Forson said that as part of President John Mahama’s bid of fulfilling his campaign promises, 10% betting tax, 1% e-vely, and emission tax have all been abolished.

Ato tax giveaway in the midst of a turbulent economy without new taxes goes to show that there was a huge waste in the system. I have not heard any group complaining about this budget yet. But glad to hear your points.
Please let us know if this budget will affect you negatively.

Using tax refund reserve in a smart way to plug revenue loss due to tax repeals shows how you can combine accounting and economics to give people some breathing space.

If there is anything the finance minister could have done better in your view, let here from you.
The minister says there will be a 24-hour economy policy document to be submitted to the House soon. Does he intend to legislate the policy or simply to bring amendments to several pieces of legislation in order to make the policy consistent with other laws? Is that the reason we did not hear much in the budget on the 24-hour policy? We need some answers ooo.

Let’s see how business sentiments respond in the next coming days and weeks. Ultimately, Ato’s performance will be measured by the budget outturn and not the statement he has just read. He must see to it that he exceeds expectations by the end of the year. Certainly, the growth target should not assume destroying the forest with illegal mining to achieve a higher GDP. I prefer 2.5% with reserves and water bodies intact. Let’s look for steady and sustainable growth.

The only complain from the minority is that the growth rate of 5.7% is better than the 4.4% projected by the so-called “resetting” budget and that the 4-month import cover is better than the 3 months projected by this budget. Everyone appears to be happy somehow, and that should mean something or?

In the next poll, we will ask if Ghanaians are satisfied with Mahama’s first budget delivered by “Eiiii Ato” which has been christened by Hon Afenyo Markins as “Forsonomics”.
“Forsonomics” is an economic management system that seeks to reverse several taxes that crippled businesses without imposing new ones while rationalizes existing tax regimes to stimulate real growth. This is my definition but

I hope Afenyo Markins can also give us his definition since he owned it.

Analysis of the budget will begin with attention given to specific line items to see where the waste is being cut from. I want to see the details of the budget for the presidency. I just want to check something
