A Committee set up by the Chief of Staff to review public sector recruitments and promotions undertaken after December 7  has revoked a total of 2,080 appointments and promotions.

The Committee, which was tasked to examine the processes surrounding the engagements, upheld 1,201 appointments after determining that they complied with established procedures and due process requirements.

According to sources familiar with the review, the exercise focused on recruitments carried out after the December 7 general elections to ensure adherence to public service regulations and administrative guidelines.

The Committee indicated that appointments found to have breached laid-down procedures or lacking proper authorisation were annulled, while those that satisfied legal and administrative standards were maintained.

The review forms part of efforts by the Presidency to ensure transparency, accountability and strict compliance with public sector recruitment protocols.

Further directives are expected to be issued to the affected institutions to implement the Committee’s recommendations.
