Registrar General drags Korsi Senyo to National Media Commission

The Registrar General’s Department under the Ministry of Justice and Attorney Generals Department, has petitioned the National Media Commission over the conduct of the Executive Editor of Awake News and investigative journalist Efo Korsi Senyo, on the publication of matters relating to his exposé on the liquidation of Toku Company Limited in 2011.

The investigative journalist in December 6, 2018, released a mind blowing account of a purported wrong doing in the liquidation of the above stated company after months of undercover work, entitled “BOMBSHELL: GH¢4.5M SCANDAL HITS REGISTRAR GENERAL“.

The investigative journalist after the release of the exposé appeared on a number of radio programs to give further clearance to the issues contained in the his report, including an interview with Captain Smart on Adom FM’s morning show where the investigative journalist clashed with the Registrar General’s legal adviser, Mr. George Kofi Bekai and her Consultant, Mr. Ahlidza.

However, in a petition dated December, 20th 2018, to the National Media Commission (NMC), by the Registrar-General and the Official Liquidator of Toku Company Ltd, Mrs. Jemima Mamaa Oware described the journalist’s actions as a move to scandalize and impugn the integrity of the official liquidator and the office of the Registrar General.

The petition went further to state that there was no wrong doing in the liquidation of Toku Company Limited as being purported by the journalist in the his report.

Mrs. Oware, the Registrar General, by the petition is asking the National Media Commission to;

i. restrain the investigative journalist, Efo Korsi Senyo from any act, conduct to impugn the integrity of the official liquidator, Toku Company Limited.

ii. restrain Efo Korsi Senyo from publishing on the website or on his facebook page, on the subject matter.

iii. apologize and withdraw the publication against the official liquidator, Toku Company Limited from Awake Newspaper and all other platforms.

iv. lastly, issue a perpetual restrain order to the journalist not to publish, comment or speak in any public forum on the subject matter.

The National Media Commission (NMC) has on January, 10th 2019, forwarded the petition to the investigative journalist, asking for his reaction or comments regarding the matter.

The editor and investigative journalist, Efo Korsi Senyo, has until 17th January, to respond to the complaint for further determination by the regulatory body.
