Rusmir Cvirko, Head Coach, Raja Casablanca
Rusmir Cvirko, head coach of Raja Casablanca, blamed the poor condition of the Accra Sports Stadium pitch for his team’s 2-2 draw with Samartex in the CAF Champions League second preliminary round on Sunday, September 15, 2024.
In his post-match engagement with the media, Coach Rusmir Cvirko noted that his players put up a sterling performance and created more chances, but were let down by the poor playing surface. According to the Moroccan coach, the pitch prevented his players from playing their usual style.
“I am not happy. I am happy we didn’t lose the game, but normally, we must win this game,” he told Max TV. “But on this field, how we play, it’s impossible to play,” he said.
Cvirko praised his players for putting up a strong fight in the game. “How we played today, I say congratulations, because that’s a big win for my team, and because of that I am proud of these young boys. But how we played and where we played on this field is very difficult,” he added.
