Prophet Kofi Oduro, leader of the Alabaster International Ministries, has harshly criticized members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who gathered at the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) demanding the release of Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.

During his sermon on Sunday, June 1, 2025, Prophet Oduro condemned the action as dangerous and unpatriotic, warning against what he described as “blind loyalty” to political figures.

“Stop your nonsense. Where is the rule of law? If I were arrested, would my church members protest without knowing what I did? This mindset must stop.”

He accused supporters of attempting to “use noise to cover the truth” and urged Ghanaians to prioritize national development over partisan sentiments.

Drawing from his recent trip to Amsterdam, Prophet Oduro highlighted the contrast between Ghana and developed countries, emphasizing the importance of law and order.

“In Europe, speed limits are strictly enforced. If you break the law, you pay. Yet here, people with influence try to interfere when someone close to them is arrested.”

Background on Wontumi’s Case

Chairman Wontumi is currently under investigation for alleged fraud, causing financial loss to the state, and money laundering. EOCO granted him bail of GHC50 million with two sureties, but his legal team is challenging the conditions. As of Monday, June 2, he remains in EOCO custody, pending final confirmation of his sureties.

Prophet Oduro’s comments add to the growing public debate about political interference in law enforcement and the need for stronger accountability across all sectors of Ghanaian society.
