A Ghanaian cleric, Prophet Bernard Elbernard Nelson-Eshun, in a Facebook post has issued a public apology after his prophetic declaration concerning the presidential primaries of the New Patriotic Party failed to materialize.

In a statement released on Sunday, the prophet admitted that he had inaccurately predicted the outcome of the party’s presidential primaries, in which he had declared through a book, videos and several media interviews that Kennedy Ohene Agyapong would win the contest and become the party’s flagbearer.

According to him, the prophecy “did not come to pass,” adding that he accepts full responsibility for the error. He described the declaration as a mistake, apologised unreservedly, and asked for forgiveness from the public, particularly those who trusted his prophetic word.

Prophet Nelson-Eshun acknowledged that because he spoke publicly with prophetic authority, many people relied on his declaration and were affected emotionally, spiritually and politically. He expressed regret for any hurt, disappointment or negative impact the prophecy may have caused, especially to individuals who made decisions based on his pronouncement.

“I do not blame anyone or shift responsibility. I accept that this prophecy, as declared, failed,” he stated, noting that the incident has caused him to pause, reflect and realign himself in accountability and discernment regarding how prophetic revelations are communicated.

The cleric further apologised to believers in Ghana and around the world who may have felt disappointed or wounded, as well as to anyone whose faith may have been shaken by his actions. He stressed his continued commitment to integrity, growth and truth.

Prophet Nelson-Eshun also expressed gratitude to those who have corrected him in love and to those who continue to pray for him as he undertakes what he described as a period of reflection and spiritual realignment.
