Prof. Frimpong-Manso Opuni named Acting CEO of FDA

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has announced  the appointment of Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Manso Opuni as its Acting Chief Executive Officer, effective Monday, July 14, 2025.

He replaces Dr. Delese Mimi Darko, who led the Authority since 2017 and now serves as the Director General of the Africa Medicines Agency (AMA), a significant step in her public health career.

Before this appointment, Prof. Opuni served as the FDA Board Chairman and brings with him a solid background in public health policy, regulatory governance, and institutional leadership.

The FDA, in a statement, congratulated Prof. Opuni and expressed confidence in his ability to lead efforts to strengthen regulatory systems, enhance consumer protection, and ensure the safety of food, drugs, and other regulated products in Ghana.
