The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has spent a whopping $8,500 to sponsor the Procurement Minister and Deputy Majority Leader in Parliament Sara Adwoa Safo.

She requested for the money from the NHIA and the said money cost part of her training programme, tuition, and air travel.

She explained that she was soliciting for the money to pay for an executive leadership training programme at Harvard.

In a letter dated March 16, 2018, wrote to the NHIA boss asking for the money to be paid, she said: “As the chairperson of the Women Caucus in Parliament, this program would enlighten and enhance my knowledge in leadership and governance”.

It is, however, not clear if the NHIA gave her what she demanded.

This comes at a time the debt-ridden state agency is unable to pay claims of its service providers.
