President and Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, John Dramani Mahama, has officially welcomed home the 48 Engineers Contingent Reconstruction Team following their successful deployment to Jamaica.
The team, which was deployed in January 2026, supported recovery and reconstruction efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa.
Their return was marked with a Mission Accomplishment Parade held at Teshie, where the president honored them for their dedication and service.
During the ceremony, President Mahama presented a citation to the contingent and commended them for what he described as a job well done.
He praised their professionalism and commitment, noting that their efforts have strengthened Ghana’s reputation in international humanitarian and peace support operations.
The deployment forms part of Ghana’s broader contribution to global disaster response and international cooperation.
President Mahama reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting the Ghana Armed Forces and ensuring they are well-equipped to undertake both local and international assignments.
The successful mission, he noted, reflects the government’s resolve to deliver on its promises, emphasizing the theme “promise made, promise delivered” as part of the broader Resetting Ghana agenda.
