President John Dramani Mahama has visited Ghanaian survivors of the recent attack in Burkina Faso who are currently receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra.

The affected Ghanaians were among traders who had travelled across the border to purchase tomatoes when the incident occurred. Following the attack, the Government of Ghana, through the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), organised a medical evacuation to airlift the injured citizens back to Accra for urgent and specialised care.

During his visit to the hospital, President Mahama interacted with the survivors and medical personnel, expressing sympathy and assuring the victims of government’s full support for their treatment and recovery.

“As a nation, we are relieved to have you safely back home. Your welfare is our priority, and we will ensure you receive the best possible care,” the President stated.

He commended the Ghana Armed Forces for their swift intervention and praised the medical team at the 37 Military Hospital for their professionalism in attending to the victims.

Health officials briefed the President that the patients are responding well to treatment and remain under close observation.

Government has reiterated its commitment to protecting Ghanaian citizens engaged in legitimate cross-border trade and continues to collaborate with neighbouring countries to address emerging security concerns within the sub-region.

The President later signed the hospital’s visitors’ book and wished the survivors a speedy recovery.
