President John Dramani Mahama has urged Ghanaians, particularly Muslims, to extend the values of Ramadan beyond the Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations, describing the occasion as a call to sustained discipline, compassion, and unity.
Speaking at the Eid-ul-Fitr prayers held at the Independence Square in Accra on Friday, the president said the end of Ramadan should not mark the conclusion of the spiritual journey but rather a continuation of the virtues cultivated during the holy month.
He noted that the discipline, sacrifice, and devotion demonstrated by Muslims throughout Ramadan should serve as a guiding principle for national life and development.
President Mahama called on citizens to embrace peaceful coexistence, tolerance, and mutual respect, stressing that such values were essential for building a united and prosperous nation.
He also encouraged Muslims to continue praying for the peace, stability, and progress of Ghana, while urging all Ghanaians to work collectively towards national development.
Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, a period of fasting, prayer, and reflection observed by Muslims worldwide.
