President John Dramani Mahamahas appointed Mr. Aaron Kanor as Acting Commissioner of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) with immediate effect.
A statement issued by the GRA said Mr. Kanor is an accomplished Customs professional with over three decades of distinguished service in revenue mobilisation, border security and trade facilitation.
It said his appointment reflects a career defined by integrity, operational excellence and strategic leadership within the Authority.
Prior to his appointment, Mr. Kanor served as Officer in Charge of Port Operations, where he oversaw critical Customs functions, including enforcement of customs laws, revenue collection and trade facilitation.
The statement noted that his leadership contributed significantly to strengthening border security systems and enhancing compliance within Ghana’s international trade environment.
Over the years, Mr. Kanor has held several key leadership positions across the country, including Sector Commander at the Kotoka International Airport and Wa Collections, as well as Chief Revenue Officer in multiple operational areas.
In these roles, he spearheaded intelligence-led operations that curtailed smuggling activities, uncovered invoice falsification schemes and disrupted criminal syndicates involved in vehicle identification manipulation, resulting in improved revenue performance and strengthened national security.
Mr. Kanor has also played an instrumental role in advancing modernization initiatives within the Customs Division, including electronic valuation systems and strategic projects aimed at improving operational efficiency and reducing cargo clearance turnaround times.
His efforts have contributed to aligning Ghana’s customs administration with international best practices and facilitating legitimate trade.
The statement said the appointment marked a significant step in strengthening Customs administration, improving compliance and supporting Ghana’s economic growth through efficient and secure trade systems.
The Board, Management and staff of the GRA congratulated Mr. Kanor on his new role and expressed appreciation to the outgoing Commissioner of Customs, Brigadier General Glover Ashong Annan, for his leadership and service to the Division.
