The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested one suspect in connection with an armed robbery that occurred early Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Dabanyin near Gomoa Buduatta Junction along the Kasoa-Winneba highway.
According to preliminary reports, at around 12:30 a.m., five armed individuals, including the arrested suspect, Mohammed Bello, ambushed and robbed drivers and passengers of their personal belongings. Stolen items included mobile phones and an undisclosed amount of cash.
Bello was apprehended during a swift police response while attempting to flee the scene. A search on him led to the recovery of GH₵3,740 in cash, two Samsung smartphones, one Tecno Spark 20, an Itel keypad phone, an Itel power bank, a woman’s purse, five sticks of cigarettes, a wristwatch, a headset, a phone charger head, and a pair of sandals identified by one of the victims.
He is currently in custody and assisting with investigations. Meanwhile, police have launched an intelligence-led manhunt to arrest the remaining four suspects.
Four victims who sustained gunshot wounds during the robbery are receiving treatment at the hospital. They expressed appreciation for the police’s swift response and commitment to bringing all culprits to justice.
The Central East Regional Police Command has urged other victims of the attack to visit the command headquarters to aid ongoing investigations. Authorities have assured the public that all remaining suspects will be apprehended and prosecuted.
