The Parliament of Ghana has adjourned proceedings to tomorrow following the news of the sudden demise of Mr. Ernest Yaw Kumi, Member of Parliament for Akwatia Constituency.
In a short message whiles praying the house to adjourn seating, Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga described the late Ernest Kumi as a resourceful and promising young politician who death is not only a lost to the NPP but the whole Parliament and the national of Ghana.
The late Kumi made the headlines from the December 2024 election to until the announcement of his sudden demise today, at age 40.
His victory was challenged by the NDC’s candidate at the Koforidua High Court. At the eve of January 6, 2025, he was hit by an injunction seeking to prevent him from being sworn in as the Member of Parliament for Akwatia but he ignored the injection and presented himself to be sworn inn.
