PAJAG to Launch Anti-Galamsey Clubs in SHSs and Tertiary Institutions Nationwide

The Executive Director of Patriotic Journalists Against Galamsey (PAJAG), Nana Otu Darko, has announced plans to champion the establishment of anti-illegal mining clubs in Senior High Schools and tertiary institutions across the country.

According to him, the initiative is aimed at educating young people on the true cost of galamsey and the devastating impact illegal mining continues to have on the environment, water bodies, farmlands, and public health.

He explained that the formation of these clubs will help build awareness among students and empower the younger generation to become active advocates in the national fight against illegal mining.

Nana Otu Darko stressed that tackling galamsey must go beyond law enforcement and include sustained public education, especially among the youth, who have a critical role to play in protecting the country’s natural resources.

He noted that through the clubs, students will be equipped with knowledge on the long-term environmental, economic, and social consequences of illegal mining, while also being encouraged to promote responsible citizenship and environmental stewardship.

The PAJAG Executive Director expressed optimism that the initiative will help shape a more informed and committed generation determined to resist and speak against galamsey in all its forms.
