“Our Intention is to Say There Until the Last Game” – Kofi Adams Predicts Final Lap for Black Stars

The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, says he is determined the Black Stars will finish in the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which is co-hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

The four-time African champions will be making their fifth appearance at the Mundial, having been drafted into Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia.

After early exits in the 2014 and 2022 editions in Brazil and Qatar, Adams has set an ambitious target for the team to reach the final stages of the tournament.

“Our intention is to stay there until the last game. So you have to prepare,” the Buem MP told Citi Sports.

“You don’t get there, and when you are doing well, before you start calling for that to happen, because once you have qualified, you have to plan ahead, and I saw that some people were a bit worried.

“Why do we have to do it? But we are going in there with the mindset that we will stay all the way to the end,” Adams added.

Ghana will kick off their World Cup campaign against Panama on June 17, before facing England on June 23, and wrapping up group play against Croatia on June 27.

In preparation, the Black Stars are set to regroup in March for friendly matches against Austria and Germany, with a final warm-up game against Mexico scheduled for May.

Also, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed that the team will be based at Bryant University in the United States throughout the tournament.
