Nana Opoku Ware, SRC President of Ghana School of Law

Some students at the Ghana School of Law are demanding the immediate resignation of Nana Opoku Ware as the President of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of the School.

Awake News has gathered that the call for his immediate resignation follows the revelations that he was unable to pass the Part 1 Exams and, by extension, will not be proceeding to the Part 2.

According to Awake News’ sources, the son of the Asantehene has failed all six papers of the Part 1 Examination of the Ghana School of Law.

If readers can recall, in February 2021, the management of the Ghana School of Law forced the then President of the SRC, Mr. Philemon Laar, to resign from his position for failing his exams.

In a letter dated February 2, 2021, addressed to the SRC Executive and signed by the then Registrar, Juliet Adu-Adjei said the management of the School withdrew its recognition of  Philemon Laar for failing PLC Part 1 exams.

”This decision has been based on the fact that Mr. Philemon Laar was not successful at the recently held PLC part 1 exam, and has to repeat,” – the letter said

Mr. Laar, in his resignation letter, contends that the decision of the management of the School to remove him was unjust.

“The decision to resign was occasioned by the apparent deadlock between the SRC and Management of the Ghana School of Law on whether or not an administrative fiat should be the basis to withdraw recognition for me as a democratically elected executive of the SRC”. – Mr. Laar now a Lawyer, said.

Awake News will follow up on the development in the school as to whether Nana Opoku Ware will tender his resignation or otherwise.
