Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has visited defender Abdul Mumin in Spain as he recovers from a thigh injury.

Mumin picked up the injury on March 31 during Rayo Vallecano’s 1-1 draw with Sevilla. The setback has kept him out of La Liga action since then.

Ahead of a four-nation tournament in London later this month, the Black Stars’ technical team is monitoring his progress closely. Ghana will face Trinidad & Tobago, Nigeria, and Jamaica in friendlies on May 28 and June 3, 2025.

Mumin, who has earned nine caps for Ghana, expressed appreciation for Addo’s visit and gave an update on his recovery.

He missed Ghana’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar due to the injury. He will also sit out the UK friendlies, which are crucial for Ghana’s preparation ahead of September qualifiers.

Despite this, team doctors expect Mumin to return in time for the qualifiers against Chad and Mali. He is also likely to feature in the final group matches against the Central African Republic and Comoros in October.
