Otto Addo targets win over Nigeria in Unity Cup match

Ghana’s head coach, Otto Addo, is confident ahead of tonight’s Unity Cup showdown against Nigeria, set to kick off at 18:00 GMT at the Gtech Community Stadium in London.

Despite being officially billed as a friendly, Addo emphasized the competitive spirit surrounding the West African derby.

“I think everyone knows what it’s about. Surely, it’s a friendly game, but it’s not a friendly game,” Addo remarked during a pre-match press conference. “We want our people to be proud. It’s always about who has the better team.”

Ghana enters the fixture in top form, following consecutive victories over Chad and Madagascar in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Addo acknowledged the tight margins that often define matches between the two rivals but expressed belief in his squad’s ability to deliver.

“We’re hoping we will win and be successful. It’s going to be tough, but I’m sure we can do it,” he added.

Path to the Final

The winner of tonight’s clash will progress to the Unity Cup final on Saturday, where Jamaica awaits after defeating Trinidad & Tobago on Tuesday.

With pride and regional supremacy at stake, tonight’s Ghana-Nigeria encounter promises a thrilling contest that goes far beyond a friendly label.
