Otto Addo said rain helped Ghana to beat Central African Republic

Black Stars coach Otto Addo has thanked God for letting it rain in Kumasi which he said enabled the team to move the ball well. Otto Addo also praised the Kumasi fans for staying with the team especially when Ghana was trailing the Central African Republic before the end of the first half.

“The rain helped us play better and move the ball faster. Thank you to God for letting it rain. The support from the start was massive. Even though we were down, they stayed by our side. Thank you very much, Kumasi, for coming out again.”

The former Black Stars player said though the team had problems in the first half, they came back stronger and secured the win. He admitted that the mistakes were his as he probably pushed the team to get more than expected from them.

“We had problems in the first half controlling the ball and finding solutions upfront. I take the blame. Maybe I wanted us to do too much, though we had a few days of training. We adjusted in the second half and deserved to win.”

The win moved Ghana to the top of Group I temporarily pending the outcome of other group games on June 11. There will not be further matches in qualifiers until March 2025. Otto Addo and his men will now turn their focus to the next major assignment, AFCON 2025 qualifiers scheduled to start from October 2024. The draw for the group stages is not out yet.
