Black Stars head coach Otto Addo is already looking ahead to Ghana’s next international fixtures, with nearly three months to go.
Following their participation in the 2025 Unity Cup, Ghana will return to competitive action in September for the continuation of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
The team is set to face Chad and Mali, two sides they have previously defeated, as they aim to secure maximum points and edge closer to another World Cup appearance.
According to Addo, early preparations are underway. “I’ll begin visiting players when the season starts, observe matches, and work with my team to decide on call-ups,” he explained.
He emphasized the importance of starting strong:
“We’re looking forward to this. We want to begin the next phase of qualifiers with a win against Chad. Preparation will start early.”
Addo also acknowledged ongoing player injuries:
“There are several injured players, but we’re staying in touch with them. By the time we regroup in September, we expect everyone to be ready.”
The four-nation Unity Cup tournament in London, where Ghana lost to Nigeria but beat Trinidad and Tobago, served as a useful preparatory step.
