Osu Klottey Wulomo lifts ban on noise making

The Osu Klottey Wulomo, Numo Noi Sikain III and the Osu Traditional Council, on June 7, 2019 lifted the ban on drumming and noise making at the Christainboug Castle entrance Osu (Gbaatsuna) in a grand style.

The lifting of the ban marks the end of a 21-day ban on drumming and noise making within the Osu Municipality in the Greater Accra Region.

This reporter in an interview with the Paramount Chief of the Osu Traditional Council who doubles as the President of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, His Royal Majesty, Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI, expressed joy for the success of the annual ritual.

He called on the people of Osu to forge ahead with unity and embrace peace to ensure massive progress and development within the municipality.

The Osu Mantse commended the Asafo (youth group) for upholding the cultural heritage of Osu by ensuring that people were tasked to respect and work with the directives during the ban on noise making period.

The Paramount Chief urged the security agencies to abhorred the directives of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs by working hand in hand with the Traditional Councils and as well verify their original letterheads during the Homowo.

His Royal Majesty, Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI, expressed his gratitude to Muslim Chiefs for their support in ensuring that their youth adhered to the directives of the Osu Traditional Council and observed the Edir-Fitir celebration devoid of noise making.

The lifting of the ban is a traditional rite that paves way for the celebration of the annual Homowo festival of the people of Osu.

This year’s Osu Homowo festival comes off on August 27.
