The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has firmly rejected allegations made by Professor Ransford Gyampo, Acting CEO of the Ghana Shippers’ Authority, suggesting that its investigation into former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta is driven by personal motives.
In a statement issued on Sunday, June 22, the OSP described Prof. Gyampo’s remarks as baseless and warned that such claims could erode public trust in Ghana’s fight against corruption.
“The OSP wishes to clarify that its investigation into Mr. Ofori-Atta is based on specific corruption-related allegations, particularly abuse of office for profit. This includes a multi-year contract awarded to Strategic Mobilization Limited (SML),” the statement read.

Prof. Gyampo had earlier commented on TV3’s Keypoints programme that he hoped the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, was acting out of “patriotism and not vendetta.”
In response, the OSP disclosed that Prof. Gyampo had contacted the office regarding SML at the very moment officers from the OSP and National Security were executing a lawful search of the company’s premises.
“Incidentally, the said CEO called and sent messages to the Office in respect of SML while the search was ongoing,” the statement noted.
The OSP emphasized that while it remains open to scrutiny and criticism, public officials must not interfere, directly or indirectly, with ongoing investigations.
