Ghanaian musician and entrepreneur Okyeame Kwame has emphasized that the secret to lasting success in branding lies in being authentic.
Speaking on Joy Prime’s Prime Time Show with George Quaye, the artist, born Kwame Nsiah-Apau, shared that his journey into personal branding has taught him that pretending to be someone else is never sustainable.
“Since I became brand conscious, I realized that I cannot sell anything except what I already am,” he said.
According to him, branding isn’t just about how you want to be seen, it’s about who you truly are. Over time, your real self always shows through.
“Every brand has one enemy, time. If you’re faking it, you’ll eventually get tired, lose focus, or expose the inconsistency,” he noted.
Okyeame Kwame revealed that his fashion, speech, and public behavior are deliberate reflections of his true identity.
“I look at myself as an intelligent, elegant African. So when I dress, that’s the message I want to communicate,” he added.
His consistent, values-driven approach has helped him stand out in Ghana’s entertainment industry.
Beyond music, he’s also made his mark in health advocacy, fashion, and entrepreneurship, all unified by a clear, authentic personal brand.
In his message to viewers and aspiring creatives, Okyeame Kwame stressed that authenticity isn’t just admirable, it’s a survival strategy in an industry often defined by image and performance.
