OB Amponsah dominates 2025 Ghana Comedy Awards

OB Amponsah stole the spotlight at the 2025 Ghana Comedy Awards, cementing his status as one of the country’s top comedic talents.

The celebrated comic was named Stand-Up Comedian of the Year, the most prestigious award of the night. He also won Comedy Special of the Year for his 10th anniversary show, OB Amponsah Live at the Bukom Arena.

Held in Accra, the show was praised for its creativity, emotional depth, and ability to keep audiences laughing while reflecting on the comedian’s decade-long journey.

Amponsah didn’t stop there. His radio show, THE WMT SHOW on 3FM 92.7, co-hosted with Lekzy Decomic, took home Radio Comedy Show of the Year, further highlighting his influence across platforms.

Speaking after the ceremony, OB expressed gratitude to his fans and creative team. “This is not just for me. It’s for every comedian who believes Ghanaian comedy has a future. We’re just getting started,” he said.

He also acknowledged the role of his key partners. “Special thanks to Kofi Adinkra and Africa Arts Network for helping bring the Bukom Arena event to life. It was a massive dream, and they made it real.”

This year’s awards recognized both fresh talent and industry veterans, showing the growing strength and diversity of Ghana’s comedy scene.

With three major wins under his belt, OB Amponsah continues to lead the charge in elevating Ghanaian comedy to new heights.
