Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, a founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has blasted the party’s leadership for electing a presidential candidate before reorganizing its internal structures. He described the decision as both unconstitutional and a strategic misstep.
Speaking to Myjoyonline, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe argued that the party should have prioritized electing new national, regional, constituency, and polling station executives.
According to him, jumping straight into a flagbearer election violates the NPP’s constitution and reflects poor leadership judgment. “In a party that just suffered a major electoral defeat, it’s crucial to reflect deeply on what went wrong,” he said.
“Rushing to select a presidential candidate without honest introspection is reckless. This process seems tailored to favor one individual while dismissing legitimate concerns from respected party members.”
He didn’t hold back in criticizing the current party executives, blaming them for the NPP’s loss in the 2024 general elections. Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe questioned their credibility, stating they lack the moral authority to lead the party’s recovery.
“The same leadership that led us into defeat cannot be trusted to chart the way forward,” he stressed. “If the NPP is serious about returning to power in 2028, it must adopt a transparent and inclusive process, fully in line with our constitution.”
