The President of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), Rashid Ibrahim, has raised critical concerns about rising hostel fees and poor school infrastructure during the Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) Dialogue with the President held at the Jubilee House.
Speaking at the engagement, Rashid Ibrahim highlighted the growing burden of hostel accommodation costs on students, as well as the continued existence of the “schools under trees” phenomenon, describing both as urgent issues requiring immediate government intervention.
In response, President John Dramani Mahama reaffirmed government’s commitment to addressing the challenges. He assured stakeholders that efforts are being intensified to improve educational infrastructure and ensure conducive learning environments for students across the country.
The NUGS President’s intervention has been seen as a strong representation of student concerns at the highest level of governance, with many observers noting the importance of sustained dialogue between student leadership and government in shaping responsive education policies.
