During his State of the Nation Address, President John Dramani Mahama directed the National Investigative Bureau (NIB) to declare former directors of the National Service Authority (NSA), involved in the Ghost Names scandal, as wanted. The President revealed that some individuals benefiting from the fraudulent scheme have absconded.
Mahama emphasized the severity of the situation, noting that the inclusion of over 80,000 ghost names on the NSA payroll likely resulted in significant theft of public funds. “Such blatant theft of public funds cannot go unpunished,” he stated.
In addition to pursuing the absconded suspects, the President ordered the tracing and freezing of their assets until the ongoing investigations are concluded. His call for accountability highlights the government’s resolve to combat corruption and safeguard state resources.
Furthermore, President Mahama unveiled plans to introduce military training for National Service personnel to instill greater discipline and responsibility among Ghana’s youth, furthering his vision for a more productive and disciplined generation.
