NPP sets GH¢600,000 nomination, filing fee for 2028 flagbearer race

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced that presidential hopefuls aiming to contest in the 2028 general elections must pay GH¢600,000 in non-refundable nomination and filing fees.

This was disclosed in an official notice signed by Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party’s General Secretary, on Tuesday, July 29. The process is guided by Article 13(1)(2) of the NPP Constitution.

According to the party, nominations for the flagbearer position officially opened on Tuesday, July 29 and will close on Thursday, August 28, 2025.

A breakdown of the fees includes:

  1. GH¢100,000 Nomination Fee, payable via Bankers Draft to the NPP Headquarters
  2. GH¢500,000 Filing Fee, also payable via Bankers Draft
  3. Development Fee, the amount of which will be determined by the NPP’s National Council at a later date.

The National Presidential Primary to elect the party’s flagbearer is scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2026.
