NPP receives 2024 election review report amid public curiosity

After months of internal reviews and behind-the-scenes soul-searching, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has finally received the much-anticipated report analyzing its defeat in the 2024 general elections.

The findings, prepared by a 12-member committee chaired by former Speaker of Parliament Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye, were officially presented to the party’s national leadership on Wednesday, April 16 at the Alisa Hotel in Accra.

The high-stakes meeting brought together several of the party’s key figures. Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and his former running mate Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh were all present. Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin and NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong also attended.

The committee was tasked with examining the reasons behind the party’s electoral loss and offering practical recommendations to help reposition the NPP.

Despite the significance of the report, Prof. Oquaye chose not to disclose any details at this stage. He noted that further communication would come later.

The decision to keep the report confidential for now has stirred curiosity and speculation within and outside the party. Supporters and political observers are eagerly waiting to understand what led to such a dramatic political shift.

Will the contents of the report spark major reforms or reveal deep-seated issues within the party? For now, the answers remain sealed.
