The highest decision-making body of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), the National Council, is expected to meet today to deliberate on the Electoral Commission’s directive to re-run parliamentary elections in 19 polling stations in the Ablekuma North Constituency.

The meeting comes amid growing internal debate within the party on whether to participate in the re-run or challenge the EC’s decision in court.

Residents of Ablekuma North in the Greater Accra Region have been without parliamentary representation for the past seven months following disputed results in the December 7, 2024 parliamentary elections.

The EC recently announced a re-run in selected polling stations, a move that has sparked disagreement within the NPP.

According to sources close to Classfmonline.com, today’s meeting is expected to bring finality to the party’s stance on the matter, which has created tension among key stakeholders since the EC’s announcement.

The outcome of the meeting will determine whether the NPP contests the re-run or seeks redress through the courts.
