NPP members sabotaging galamsey efforts to discredit Mahama

In a stunning revelation, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, has accused members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of actively engaging in galamsey activities with the sole intention of tarnishing the image of President John Mahama.

According to A Plus, the NPP’s alleged sabotage of galamsey efforts commenced immediately after President Mahama’s assumption of office.

“Immediately after Mahama’s victory, the NPP decided to return to galamsey sites to disgrace Mahama,” he claimed in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem.

A Plus further alleged that NPP members who had previously been involved in galamsey and failed to cease their operations despite repeated calls have now intensified their activities.

“All the galamsey operators are NPP members who are trying to create the impression that Mahama needs more gold for the Goldbod policy. But they [NPP] have returned to the galamsey sites with the missing excavators,” he said.

A Plus’s allegations come in the wake of NPP Director of Communications Richard Ahiagbah’s accusations that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has failed to take decisive action to address the galamsey menace.

Ahiagbah claimed that some NDC members feel emboldened to engage in galamsey, believing the Mahama administration would be lenient on the issue.
