The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has summoned all presidential hopefuls to a meeting with the National Council of Elders on July 3, 2025.

This move follows growing concerns over premature campaign activities. In a press release dated June 24, and signed by General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua, the party announced the meeting was resolved at a National Steering Committee meeting.

“The Steering Committee has resolved to invite all personalities who have publicly declared intentions to contest in the upcoming presidential primary to a joint meeting with the Steering Committee and Council of Elders,” the statement read.

The meeting aims to address internal matters of mutual interest and reinforce party unity.

Additionally, the Steering Committee has referred Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe (aka Abronye), to the National Disciplinary Committee. He reportedly defied a directive from the National Council by making unguarded public statements.

The committee has also ordered an immediate stop to all caucuses or associations involving current and former party officials who are holding meetings with aspirants, which violates party regulations.

Kodua reminded members of their constitutional duty to protect party unity and refrain from actions that threaten cohesion.

“The party urges all members to uphold unity, respect decisions, and avoid divisive acts,” he emphasized.
