NPP apologizes for past mistakes, pledges better governance

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, has issued a public apology to Ghanaians, acknowledging the party’s governance failures and asking for forgiveness.

Speaking on Channel One TV on Wednesday, June 19, Mr Kodua admitted that while the NPP achieved some progress during its administration, it also made notable mistakes.

“As a political party, certainly we did our best, but we couldn’t have gotten everything right,” he said. “And I have always said that on behalf of our then government, our political party, certain things that we could not do right, we apologize for it.”

The NPP, which lost the 2024 general elections after two terms in office, has since been undergoing internal reforms. Mr Kodua said this period of introspection has allowed the party to assess its governance record and strategize for the future.

He assured the public that if given another mandate, the NPP would not repeat its past errors.

“As a party, we are always ready to learn and make sure that when we come back to power, the good things that we did, we will build on. And those mistakes that we made, we will not repeat those mistakes,” he said.
