‘Nobody can stop me’ – Kennedy Agyapong on NPP flagbearership contest

Former flagbearer aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hon. Kennedy Agyapong has reaffirmed his intention to contest for the party’s flagbearership, undeterred by alleged intimidation and threats from rival camps.

Speaking after announcing his withdrawal from the party’s ‘Thank You Tour’ due to security concerns following a stabbing incident involving one of his supporters in Kumasi, Agyapong declared,

“I am taking this opportunity to inform all that I am going to contest; nobody can stop me from doing that. They should be ready. We were part of those who built the party and sacrificed for it.”

He emphasized his determination, stating, “We will also regroup ourselves, in the appropriate time we will do whatever we have to do for the party, and anything that will improve our chances.”

Kennedy Agyapong’s resolve comes despite alleged attempts to tarnish his image through fake stories and threats against his supporters.

The stabbing incident, which has been reported to the police with evidence of spent bullet shells, has raised concerns about the safety of attendees at the ‘Thank You Tour’ events.

He revealed that his security team expressed concerns about guaranteeing the safety of his entourage.

“I would have retaliated easily because we know the guy,” Agyapong said, referencing the individual who led the assault.

However, he prioritized seeking justice for the victim over personal vendetta.

He criticized the ‘Thank You Tour’, suggesting it was unnecessary and potentially divisive.

“From Berekum to Kumasi, all that has happened tells me that we are not needed. Let them do their own thing,” he remarked.

Ultimately, Kennedy Agyapong announced his withdrawal from the tour, citing security concerns and threats to lives. “My team and I will have to pull out after what happened yesterday. Lives are threatened; I don’t think I can protect my team enough.”
