Dambai (O/R) Aug 5, GNA- The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Nkwanta South, Mr. Joseph Awal Antwi, has debunked claims of food crisis in schools within the Municipality, particularly for West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) candidates.

The MCE clarified that the government had already provided food for the schools, and that there was no shortage of food for students, including those preparing for their final exams.

The statement contradicted claims made by Headmaster of Nkwansec, Mr. Solomon Sarpong Bagmae, who expressed concerns about the students well-being, stating that the increased candidate population had overwhelmed the school’s food supply.

Mr. Antwi told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that, a meeting was held with headmasters just last week to discuss key issues that might affect the exams.

The meeting covered security, food and accommodation and everything was in order, the MCE added.

In an interview with the Municipal Director of Education, Nkwanta, Mr. Jonathan Korsina, said claims of food shortage in the schools were false and should be disregarded.

He explained that out of the three SHS schools in Nkwanta township, only one is a boarding school, while the remaining two are day schools.

He assured that before the recent tribal disturbances led to the closure of schools, there was an abundance of food in the boarding school. In addition, he said on Saturday, August 2, 2025, the government supplied additional food to the school.

The Director urged the public to disregard the false information circulating about food shortage in the schools.

He emphasized that the situation was under control and there was sufficient food supplies.
