Mr. Abdul-Salam highlighted the NLA’s quick response to the disaster, noting that the organization acted swiftly through its Good Causes Foundation to help ease the suffering of the victims.

“We have witnessed the destruction caused by the tidal waves in these communities, which is why we prioritized the appeal from the Volta Regional Coordinating Council. We believe our contribution will provide immediate relief to the displaced families during this difficult time,” he stated.

Mr. Nicholas Kwabla Worclachie, the Municipal Chief Executive of Ketu South, expressed deep appreciation to the NLA for their generous support, which will significantly benefit those affected.

According to Hon. James Gunu, the Volta Regional Minister, the NLA was the first organization to respond to their request for assistance. He thanked Mr. Abdul-Salam and the management for their support.

He further explained that the tidal wave victims have lost their means of livelihood and are currently living in tents. The funds will be used to provide essential shelter, food, and clothing to the displaced individuals from Agavedzi, Asalakope, and Amunitsi, addressing their urgent needs.

The NLA Good Causes Foundation is the charity branch of the Authority, focusing on corporate social responsibility. It operates under four main pillars: Health, Education, Youth and Sports Development, and Arts and Culture. This initiative is based on Section 2(3) of the National Lotto Act, which mandates the NLA to conduct lotteries that provide care and support for the physically or mentally affected, the needy, the elderly, orphans, and the destitute.
