The National Investment Bank (NIB) PLC has launched its new Mobile App along with the official introduction of the “Ubuntu Initiative,” as part of a significant digital and cultural transformation effort.

During the launch event, NIB PLC’s Managing Director, Chief Zakaria Doliwura, referred to these initiatives as a pivotal move towards the future of banking in Ghana.

He shared that, with the backing of President John Mahama, the Ministry of Finance, the Bank of Ghana, the Board, key stakeholders, and dedicated staff, the Bank has successfully enhanced its capital position, regained market trust, and reestablished itself as a credible national development institution.

“The NIB APP marks a major advancement in our digitalization efforts,” Chief Doliwura stated.

He explained that the app enables customers to open accounts, transfer funds, pay bills, buy airtime, and access comprehensive banking services 24/7 with just a few taps on their phones, eliminating long waits, geographical barriers, and traditional banking hours.

“This is banking reimagined for Ghana’s 24-hour economy,” he emphasized.

In addition to technology, the Managing Director introduced the Ubuntu Initiative as the philosophical foundation for NIB’s revitalized organizational culture.

Quoting the well-known African proverb, “I am because we are,” he highlighted that Ubuntu is more than just a slogan.

“It serves as a reminder that behind every transaction is a human story, behind every account is a dream, and behind every customer interaction is an opportunity to show care, integrity, and respect,” Chief Doliwura conveyed to the audience.

He stated that the Ubuntu philosophy will guide staff in prioritizing people in the Bank’s operations while utilizing advanced technology to provide an exceptional customer experience.

Also addressing the audience, the Deputy Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, Hon. Mohammed Adams Sukparu, a satisfied NIB customer, expressed his enthusiasm for the Mobile Application and congratulated the Managing Director, Board Members, and staff of the bank.

He encouraged management to harness technology and implement more innovative ideas to further transform NIB.

The Omanhene of Suma Traditional Area and Council of State Member, Odeneho Dr. Afram Brempong III, who chaired the event, congratulated NIB’s management and staff for turning the bank into a profitable institution in just a few months.
