The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has announced a review in service tariffs.

The Authority in a statement released on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 said that a surge in medicinal products as well as medical services has become necessary due to the increase in Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs).

According to the Authority, framework medicines will be increased by 50% plus an additional 30% marginal increase by NHIA.

While non-framework medicines will be increased by 20%, there will also be a 10% increase of service tariffs across board.

The statement also indicated that medications like Artemether Injection 80mg/ml and Levofloxacin Infusion 500mg/ml will now be part of the list of medicines of the NHIA and will be reimbursed by the National Health Insurance Scheme.
