Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Foreign Affairs Minister

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced that all six new regions created under President Akufo-Addo will have passport application centres commissioned this December 2025.

“Our New Passport Application Centres in all 6 newly created Regions are ready for commissioning this month of December,” – Mr. Ablakwa said in a Facebook post.

“This is the first time in Ghana’s history that all regions will have their own Passport Application Centres. No need to travel hours to another Region to have your biometrics captured,” – He added

According to the North Tongu Member of Parliament, he has kept his promise of “establishing 7 Passport Application Centres this year in all the Regions lacking them, and also reduced the Passport Application Fee by 30% — from GHS500 to GHS350.”

In the past, obtaining a Ghanaian passport has been a significant challenge and frustration, leading to the prevalence of middlemen, bribery, and corruption.

This situation has been significantly resolved, as Ghanaians can now apply for and obtain a passport within 24 hours, which is then delivered to their doorsteps.

The new centres are located in the regional capitals – Dambai, Damongo, Nalerigu, Goaso, Techiman, and Sefwi Wiawso.

This is the first time in Ghana’s history that all regions will have their own Passport Application Centres. No need to travel hours to another Region to have your biometrics captured.

Today, December 7 is exactly a year since you overwhelmingly voted to reset Ghana — we are determined to create that new Ghana and never to take your massive support for granted.

I have kept my promise of establishing 7 Passport Application Centres this year in all the Regions lacking them, and also reduced the Passport Application Fee by 30% — from GHS500 to GHS350.

Yes, I know this great development is also timely and fortuitous as Ghanaian football fans from all over Ghana prepare to go support the Black Stars in the US and Canada.
For God and Country
