The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Volta Regional Executive Committee (REC) has directed all members engaged in premature campaign activities ahead of the party’s upcoming parliamentary elections to cease such actions with immediate effect.
A communiqué issued by the National Democratic Congress Volta Regional Secretariat and dated February 22, 2026, said the decision was taken at a meeting held on Friday, February 6, 2026, following reports of early campaigning by some members.
The REC noted with serious concerns that such activities, at this stage of the party’s internal electoral calendar, had the potential to create unnecessary tension, division, and distractions within the ranks of the party.
It stated that premature campaigning was inconsistent with the spirit of party unity and discipline and could undermine the cohesion and collective focus required to strengthen party structures ahead of the elections.
“The REC therefore unequivocally directs that all members currently engaged in any form of premature campaigning to cease such activities with immediate effect,” the statement said.
The Committee reaffirmed the party’s commitment to a transparent, fair, and well-structured internal electoral process, adding that any member found going against the directive would be subjected to disciplinary measures in accordance with the party’s constitution and applicable regulations.
The REC urged members to exercise restraint, demonstrate political maturity, and channel their energies towards consolidating the party’s base, strengthening branch and constituency structures, and promoting unity at all levels.
The REC also assured that they would continue to monitor developments closely and take appropriate actions where necessary to safeguard the integrity, unity, and stability of the party in the Volta Region.
The communiqué was signed by Mr Bright Kwashie Ege, Volta Regional Secretary (Ag).
