NDC Executive Slams Kwamena Duncan’s Criticism of Mahama

Bright Botchway, the Deputy National Coordinator for the Trade and Artisan Network of the NDC, has launched a strong attack on former Central Regional Minister Kwamena Duncan for his recent criticism of former President John Mahama’s address to the people of Bawku.

The NDC executive described the former minister’s comments as hypocritical and baseless, asserting that he has no moral right to criticize the NDC flag bearer.

Speaking on Peace FM, an Accra-based radio station, Mr. Duncan labeled the former President’s remarks about the security situation in Bawku as “factually incorrect and dangerous”. He further said, “The NDC flagbearer during his tour of the Upper East, stated that when the NDC is in power, the Bawku disturbance ceases, but when the NPP is in power the disturbances resumes. What he even said is factually wrong.”

However, Mr. Botchway argued that the former Minister, given his own controversial tenure in office, was in no position to criticize others.

Addressing party supporters at a rally in Awutu Senya West, the NDC member said, “Kwamena Duncan lacks the moral authority to call out John Mahama or anyone else when his own tenure as Central Regional Minister was marked by poor governance and recklessness.”

He continued “His tenure is widely regarded as one of the worst the Central Region has ever experienced.”

Mr. Botchway further argued that, Mr. Duncan, during his tenure as a Minister, made worse inflammatory and divisive comments.

“It’s ironic that Duncan, who often made reckless comments during his time in office, now feels entitled to condemn Mahama’s remarks. If anything, Duncan’s words and actions contributed more to instability and division in this country.”

“Duncan’s attempt to undermine Mahama is not only unfounded but also highlights his failure to grasp the complexities of leadership, especially in regions with a history of conflict,” he said.
