The Deputy National Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Osman Abdulai Ayariga says the NDC is not bothered by Mustapha Adam’s to contest as an Independent Candidate for the Ayawaso East by-election.
According to Osman Ayariga, the decision of the former NDC member will not be a hinderance to Baba Jamal winning the seat.
He stressed that Baba Jamal by the end of the collation, NDC’s Baba Jamal will be the next member of parliament with nothing less than 60 percent of the votes.
Addressing the media at the Nima 1 Clustor of School, the National Youth Authority (NYA) CEO said the Green Army are prepared to work effectively to ensure Baa Jamal comes out victorious, adding that they will protect and harvest votes for their candidate.
“I can assure with all certainty but that will not affect our party. I can assure you that by 5:30 when the Electoral Commission (EC) is done collating, Baba Jamal will be the next member of parliament for the Ayawaso East Constituency. I can assure you that the Green Army is on the ground and we are here to protect and harvest the votes for Baba Jamal. Nothing less than 60 percent”, he said.
Islam Ayariga added that “Irrespective of the turn out of voters, we are still obtain nothing less than 60 percentage”.
The by-election has attracted significant political interest, with five candidates vying for the seat.
Following the balloting on Thursday, February 12, 2026, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate Baba Jamal drew the top spot on the ballot paper.
He will be challenged by Ibrahim Iddrisu of the Liberal People’s Party (LPP) in the second position, Yussif Baba Ali of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the third, and independent candidates Alhaji Mohammed Umaru Sanda and David Kannor in the fourth and fifth positions respectively.
