A sharp debate has been ignited within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) after party activist SK Adams publicly criticized government appointees for failing to support the grassroots despite benefiting from the party’s rise to power.
In a strongly-worded Facebook post, SK Adams expressed disappointment that individuals appointed by President John Dramani Mahama have not lived up to the expectations of party foot soldiers who backed their political journeys.
“JM gave all these people positions so that they can also help the other comrades. Unfortunately, they are not doing that but keep giving us motivational speeches. Motivational don’t buy kenkey…!” Adams wrote.
His comments were directed at a post made earlier by Mr. Eric Adjei, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), who was appointed by President Mahama. Mr. Adjei had urged party supporters to remain patient as the President prepares broader opportunities for the rank and file.
“To our comrades, we know that all of you need the opportunity to work. Please, respectfully relax; the president is cooking something important for all of you, even for those who have never trusted in his leadership,” Mr. Adjei assured.
However, SK Adams’ reaction reflects growing frustration among grassroots members who feel that, while appointees have settled comfortably in their roles, ordinary party activists continue to struggle without meaningful support.
The exchange has triggered mixed reactions on social media. Some sympathize with Adams, arguing that foot soldiers deserve more than motivational assurances, while others support Adjei’s call for calm, insisting that the President’s long-term plans will eventually benefit all committed members.
Political observers say such tensions are not unusual, especially in governing parties where expectations for appointments and opportunities run high. However, they caution that unresolved internal dissatisfaction could affect grassroots morale ahead of major national engagements.
