The Minority Leader in Parliament, Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has donated GHC100,000 towards the construction of the Avenor Traditional Council Palace, in a move aimed at strengthening traditional governance and accelerating development in the area.

The donation was made during a stakeholder engagement organised by the Member of Parliament for Akatsi South, where Hon. Afenyo-Markin paid a courtesy visit to chiefs and opinion leaders of Avenor. He explained that the financial support is intended to aid and fast-track the completion of the Traditional Council’s ongoing palace project, which he described as critical to effective chieftaincy administration and local governance.
In a related gesture, the Minority Leader also presented a separate donation of GHC30,000 to the Apostolic Revelation Society (ARS) Church to support the construction of its church edifice, reaffirming his belief in the role of religious institutions in promoting moral values and community development.

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Afenyo-Markin appealed to the chiefs and elders of Avenor to remain united, stressing that harmony within the Traditional Council is essential for attracting government interventions, private sector investment, and sustainable development projects to the area.
He used the occasion to commend the Member of Parliament for Akatsi South, describing him as a focused and visionary leader whose leadership, he noted, signals a bright future for the constituency and Ghana at large.
The chiefs, elders, and church leadership expressed deep appreciation to the Minority Leader for his generosity and commitment to the development of Avenor. They described the donations as timely and pledged their continued support for initiatives aimed at advancing peace, unity, and progress in the traditional area.
