The Minority Caucus in Parliament has held discussions with officials of the International Monetary Fund to provide feedback on recent economic developments in Ghana.
The engagement, held in Accra on Monday, was at the request of the Minority Caucus and provided members the opportunity to share their perspectives on Ghana’s economic situation and governance.
Members of the caucus present at the meeting included Jerry Ahmed Shaib, Second Deputy Minority Whip; Mohammed Amin Adam, Ranking Member on Finance; Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Ranking Member on Economy and Development; and Kwaku Agyeman Kwarteng, Chairman on Budget.
Also in attendance were Abena Osei-Asare, Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee; and Mr. Collins Adomako-Mensah, Deputy Ranking Member on Energy.
The meeting was led by the IMF Resident Representative, Mr. Adrian Alter, who was accompanied by Mr. Razafimahefa Ivohasina Fizara, Coordinator of AFRITAC West 2, and Mr. Osa Ahinakwah, Economist at the IMF Country Office.
Mr. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, Minority Leader, who signed the statement announcing the meeting, said the discussions were constructive and mutually beneficial to both sides as stakeholders in Ghana’s governance.
He noted that the engagement formed part of efforts to ensure continuous dialogue between Ghana’s political leadership and international financial institutions on the country’s economic progress.
